‘Metamorhosis’ with Tom Gately – At Inn Boonsboro

Join us for an enchanting art opening reception at Inn Boonsboro on February 15th, 2026, from 2 to 4 PM, featuring the original watercolor works of recently relocated artist Tom Gately. His captivating series, “Metamorphosis,” beautifully captures the essence of his change, growth, and transition from New England to the scenic Potomac River Valley. Tom has found endless inspiration in the charming architecture and landscapes of Boonsboro, MD, and Shepherdstown, WV. As he enthusiastically shares, “I’m looking forward to painting scenes of the tri-state area (WV, MD, PA). Like New England, this area is so rich in history it provides an abundance of subject matter that I’m excited to interpret in my art.” Supported wholeheartedly by his “better half,” Jane, and their two furry shop assistants, Riley and Piper, Tom invites you to experience his artistic journey through this vibrant collection. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a delightful afternoon celebrating art, history, and community.

ABOUT: “Tom Gately is a local artist in central Massachusetts. He began painting as a young man in his teens and twenties. After an extended hiatus to pursue a career, family and the renovation of a historic (1756) home in Brimfield, Massachusetts, he rekindled his passion for painting in retirement.  He has won awards for watercolor painting at the 2023 Massasoit Art Guild annual show, the 2024 Leicester Art Show and was honored with the Vernon Graham Memorial Award for excellence in watercolor painting.
“I’ve always found inspiration in the architecture and landscapes of New England. I’m especially drawn to the light and shadows that only the change of seasons in New England can provide.”
Tom and his wife Jane and their two dogs, Riley and Piper, moved to Shepherdstown, WV, in the fall of 2025 to be closer to family. “I’m looking forward to painting scenes of the tri-state area (WV, MD, PA). Like New England, this area is so rich in history it provides an abundance of subject matter that I”m excited to interpret in my art.””

“That’s Not Photography”

Opening Reception July 23rd 2 – 4 pm

Thom Davis doesn’t paint with watercolors or oils. He paints in pixels. Starting with a photo of something that catches his fancy, he begins his transformational process to get the observer to bypass the well-worn story the image usually prompts and look deeper.
With a passion that began when he was only eight, Thom is fascinated by the use of color, shape, gesture and mood to elevate photography to a tool that allows us to see past the obvious and attune ourselves to the infinite messages that surround us at all times.
As you can imagine, this makes him an extremely interesting person. Come meet him and begin the journey!

Thom’s work will be on display at Inn BoonsBoro until September 17th. If you are interested in viewing his work, you can schedule an appointment with the Gifts Inn Boonsboro.

Pine Needle Basket Making Workshop with Sarah Soltow

Welcome to the World of Pine Needle Basketry!

October 14th & 15th, 2023

Join Artist, Sarah Soltow for a 2-day workshop learning the art and magic of these creations.

“When life gives you pine needles….”

Sarah, originally from Shepherdstown, WV, moved to Richmond, VA after a stint in Arizona. Surrounded again by green trees, then experiencing the pandemic lock down, she turned her creative urges to making pine needle baskets using indigenous and endangered Longleaf Pine needles from a tree on her property.

Her love for natural objects, for sewing, and for creative pursuit came together in the perfect storm to master the ancient craft of basket making, using the bounty of her tree. Soon she was designing, creating, and offering her exquisite little artisan baskets for sale.

Teaching others was the natural next step.

All material tools and supplies are included in the fee. Eight participants will make a basket to take home. This 2-Day workshop will be held at the Inn of Boonsboro From 10am – 3pm and will include refreshments. Fee:$125….

Limited Space Available (8 Seats)
