We can’t wait to see you there!

ABOUT EMMA WILLIAMS: “Throughout 2024, I printed a set of cyanotypes using plants growing in the orchards and forest near my home. I also learned to make inks from the foraged materials, such as black walnuts and peach tree bark, and from household materials like avocado pits and turmeric. I wanted to notice, name, and celebrate the plants that appear and recede as the seasons shift. I also sought a new approach to art-making. I am concerned about the public health impacts of routine plastic use, including the materials in standard acrylic paints. Therefore, I am developing an art-making approach that is rooted in its place of origin and releases less pollution.”

ABOUT JANNON BAER: “Jannon, a painter, dancer, and drummer from Washington County, MD, focuses on helping others connect with the present and find joy through art and movement. She has exhibited her work in various galleries and participated in community projects, including a mural in Hagerstown. Jannon holds a BFA in Painting and a minor in Printmaking from Shepherd University. In addition to painting, she teaches various dance styles, blending meditative practices for healing. She values her teachers and enjoys nature, drumming with a band, and spending time with her son, Kiran.”

Artist’s Statement: “Junk is my medium. Vintage typewriters and cameras, broken VCRs and DVDs, creepy doll parts and other “found objects.” My steampunk-persuaded art brings together the discards and fragments of industrial society with natural elements such as wood and copper, interpreting the histories of forgotten things. Whether functional art, casual furniture, or fine art sculpture, Apothic Art represents my ongoing attempt to recapture the feelings and memories of a free-range childhood spent playing in abandoned factories along Philadelphia’s Manayunk Canal.”

‘Curiosities’ by Kelly Scudieri – At Gifts Inn Boonsboro

Let the Wild Rumpus begin! Kelly Scudieri is joining us for the latest of her fantastical phenomenal phantasmagorical art shows! Join us on May 9th from 5-8pm to meet this fearless painter, musician, and all-round Renaissance Woman in person and fall under her spell.

Title: Curiosities

From Kelly’s website: Kelly Scudieri’s figures stare back at you unabashedly, with soul-revealing eyes, often surrounded by what at first glance appears to be an arbitrary environment. Combining realism and surrealism, her characters, surrounded in majestic color studies, come to life. To Scudieri, the mystery is a part of the beauty of the art. “It’s not so much about “who” specifically these characters are as to the human complexities they represent.”

Scudieri is a graduate of Shepherd University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Art. After 13 years dedicated to the mental health field, she delved full time into her art in 2003 and was received graciously.

Meet The Maker – At Gifts Inn Boonsboro

Craig Fowler has been making his unique and wonderful silverware wind chimes since the mid-80s. Using only silver-plated spreaders, forks and spoons, and adding his ball peen ‘nubbles’ to enhance the tones, his chimes are as pretty to listen to as they are to see. But he’s got more tricks up his sleeve! Craig also makes bud vases, ornaments and jewelry, but most exciting are his little Pocket Angels. Each of the five major branches of the Armed Services are represented in these little pewter angel medallions, on key chains to make them easy to carry or hang, letting you carry a little extra protection right in your pocket.
His most famous creation is a magnificent wind chime which appeared in the movie ‘When A Stranger Calls.’ We have an exact replica in the shop! Drop by during Greenfest and see it, and meet Craig!
